Mark has been a Chertsey councillor since 2014, representing St Ann's ward at Runnymede Borough Council and the Chertsey division at Surrey County Council (where he was the Surrey Cabinet Member for Adults and later Communities).
In May 2026 he was elected to the new West Surrey Council as one of two Conservative councillors for Chertsey ward.
As Chairman of Chertsey Cricket Club, Vice Chair and ‘tanoy announcer’ at the football club, Stepgates School governor, Goose Fair organiser and Black Cherry Fair committee member, board member for charitable trusts, and regular dog walker, Mark makes sure that he hears what is going on in the town, listens to residents and, where possible, resolves local concerns.
He says: "Chertsey is my home; I’ve lived here with my wife and two sons for over 30 years and it is very important to me.
