Jaz Mavi is the Conservative candidate for Chertsey Riverside ward at these local elections.
She says: "I am originally from the West Midlands. My mother is a deputy headteacher and my father is a prison governor. I followed their example of public service by becoming a family solicitor specialising in family law, including helping victims of domestic violence.
"I feel confident I can be a strong advocate for our residents and the Chertsey community as a member of the Runnymede Council.
My priorities are to keep our streets and green spaces safe and free of litter, taking action against fly tipping and other abuses.
"As a small business owner, I understand the struggles our town centre businesses face. I want to ensure they are supported by the Council and we rejuvenate our high street.
"Living just off Bridge Road with my husband Kenny, I am also well aware of the risks of flooding and the need for strong defences for our community, and this will also be a priority for me at the Council.
"I am passionate about Chertsey's heritage and history and will preserve all that is good about our town, if elected. Serving our community is my calling and I look forward to your support."
Jaz is setting up a Chertsey-wide Neighbourhood Watch initiative for residents to pass on warnings about crime, litter, and antisocial behaviour and achieve results. Her goal is to empower the community to deter criminals and make Chertsey cleaner, safer, and even better place to live.
She will also protect and enhance the Meads and join our MP to press for the delivery of the River Thames Scheme and other flood alleviation to safeguard local residents from flooding.
