Cllr Sam Jenkins represents Egham Town ward at Runnymede Borough Council, since May 2022.
As a councillor he has gained a reputation for being proactive and people-focused. He created RunnymedeYZ which supports young adults around isolation and mental health issues, and has championed residents with disabilities at the Council, leading to Runnymede being recognised as a leading employer for inclusive recruitment within the local area.
Sam has served on Corporate Management and Environment and Sustainability Committee, as well Standards and Audit which he formerly chaired. Outside of politics he manages a small but growing charity and volunteers as Vice Chair of Governors at St Jude’s Infant and Junior Schools in Englefield Green.
In February 2025, Sam became the first Conservative Councillor in Egham Town since the mid-1980s, having been expelled by the Runnymede Independent Residents Group for abstaining on a vote. Joining the Conservatives allowed Sam to regain his freedom to truly represent the people of Egham.
Sam has since spearheaded some key Full Council initiatives with the support of the wider Conservative Group, such as securing a Biodiversity Baseline feasibility study, and leading the opposition to increased car parking charges across Runnymede that were imposed by the Alliance without consultation.
He continues to actively support individual residents with casework, and has helped over 130 people with various issues since May 2022. Residents can contact Sam by emailing [email protected]
