Josh Brown and Cllr Scott Lewis

We are delighted to announce Cllr Scott Lewis and former councillor Josh Brown as our candidates for Woodham & New Haw ward in the upcoming local elections set for May 2026.

The announcement comes amid growing anticipation around the future of local government where Surrey's existing 11 councils and the county council will be merged into two or three unitary authorities to deliver all services.

Scott already serves Woodham, Rowtown and New Haw at county and borough councils and has built a reputation for being a proactive and plain-speaking representative. Known for his hands-on approach, he recently secured funding for the New Haw Christmas tree after the Liberal Democrat-led Runnymede Borough Council withdrew its support. His intervention ensured the continuation of a popular local tradition.

Scott has tackled long-standing flooding issues in the area—problems that had previously been in the too difficult box. His efforts have earned him praise from residents who value his commitment to getting things done. Outside of politics, Scott is an IT director, bringing a strategic and solutions-focused mindset to his public service.

Joining him on our ticket is Josh Brown, a seasoned local politician and former councillor. Josh previously chaired the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, where he was known for his thoughtful leadership and thorough oversight. With a keen interest in housing, planning, and economic development, he believes in low taxes and policies that support sustainable growth and community wellbeing.

With fewer councillors expected at the new unitary councils, it will be more important than ever that residents are represented by hard-working individuals with Conservative values of support for the vulnerable but overall smaller but more efficient local government enabling lower taxes.

Liberal Democrats who have hiked parking charges while sitting on £20m reserves at Runnymede are not the answer.

Scott said, “I’m honoured to stand again for the community I care about. I will continue to fight for practical solutions and make sure residents' voices are heard.” Josh added, “It’s a privilege to return to frontline politics in a ward with such strong community spirit. I look forward to working alongside Scott to deliver real results.”

With their combined experience and local focus, Scott and Josh will offer voters a strong Conservative team to champion Woodham and New Haw through the next chapter of Surrey’s evolving political landscape.
